CityLinC has acquired the building at 82 Calhoun St. from Neighborhoods, Inc. as part of our commitment to the revitalization of our neighborhood. More importantly, this building will provide CityLinC with much needed space for our growing Foster Care & Adoption program.

The need is clear: At this very moment, more than 18,000 children are in the Michigan foster care system. (That’s more than the entire population of Traverse City.) Another 4,600 children are awaiting adoption (more than the population of Allegan). Every one of these kids deserves love and safety. The State of Michigan recently declared that 100% of its adoptions will be handled by private agencies like ours. In order to meet the needs of Michigan’s children, we must double our staff immediately.

The building we purchased is a former two-story home just up from our current location. Studies show that staying on Calhoun Street is more cost-effective than renting office space anywhere else in the city. By committing to renovate this property, we are using our God-given resources in the best way possible to minister to the children and youth placed in our care. We’re also showing our commitment to ministry in the heart of Battle Creek, where so many need our services. (Read the special flyer now.)

Here are three ways you can help:

1. Organize a team or volunteer on a team to help us remodel this neglected home on Calhoun Street in the most frugal manner possible. We need both skilled and unskilled workers. Every volunteer hour you contribute will result in a child’s life being changed.

2. Contribute money to help cover the costs of one of the following desperately needed improvements. Every dollar given will result in young lives being touched by the love of God.

3. Sponsor a room in the new facility in honor of your family, organization or church. Each room sponsor will be recognized on a special permanent plaque, as well as on our website and in our newsletter.
