Many have parents who are unwilling or unable to work toward having their child return home. Our program assists these children by working to address all issues they are facing in order to help them begin making positive decisions and setting realistic goals for their future. Most children are placed in our program for at least twelve months until they are either reunified with their biological families, adopted or placed into a supervised independent living program.
Children are referred to the Youth Guidance Foster Care program by either the Family Independence Agency or by local courts. Our program serves children of all ages, but we focus primarily on youth between the ages of 10 and 18. These children have been legally separated from their families because of abuse, neglect or delinquent behavior. Most of these children struggle emotionally and socially, and many have difficulty in school and are behind academically. Some struggle with alcohol and drug use.
