| Foster families are an integral part of our team as they become role models and advocates for the children we serve. Their involvement in the life of a child can make a permanent impact on that child's future. Our foster parents receive extensive training and support from our staff in order to better equip them for whatever challenges the children may present. Twelve hours of training are required before a foster parent can be licensed by Youth Guidance Foster Care. In addition, eight hours of formal training are provided to our foster parents each year in order to assist them in addressing particular issues the children in their home may be facing. |
|
| Our foster families are all unique. They are married or single, homeowners or renters, all ages and all income levels. All share a common desire to provide a nurturing, safe environment in which a child may grow and develop. Our foster homes are licensed by our own foster home licenser and regulated by the Michigan Family Independence Agency. Foster parents receive reimbursement for each night a child stays in their home, as well as a clothing allowance and medical expenses. The most rewarding benefit, however, is the knowledge that they have made the difference in the life of a child. |
